Muonionalusta Meteorite Origin

Found in Swedish Lapland,
2023.

The Muonionalusta meteorite fell to Earth approximately one million years ago, scattering across what is now the border region between Sweden and Finland. We've been hunting it since 2013.

The fragment in this piece was recovered above the Arctic Circle in the summer of 2023. Its Widmanstätten pattern — the crystalline iron-nickel structure formed by 4.5 billion years of cooling in space — was etched and polished by hand in our Barcelona workshop.

Before this, it was buried two meters underground. Before that, it was traveling through space for as long as Earth has existed.

A PATTERN THAT CANNOT EXIST ON EARTH

What you're looking at.

A microscopic look at the incredible geometric perfection created over millions of years.

Muonionalusta Crystalline Pattern Macro

Muonionalusta has one of the finest crystalline patterns of any meteorite. The bands of iron and nickel that compose it measure less than half a millimeter, the signature of a small asteroid that cooled with unusual precision in the silence of space.

It took one degree of cooling per million years to form what you're watching. Millions of years of stillness, in a vacuum, in zero gravity. Earth cannot reproduce this.

Every fragment is a slightly different version of the same impossibility.

Authenticity

Every piece is signed.

Every Stardust piece ships with a Certificate of Authenticity issued by us — naming the meteorite, its origin, its classification and the Meteorite Bulletin official number.

Each certificate is authenticated by our co-founder Emil Davidsson, an accredited member of the International Meteorite Collectors Association — IMCA #4748 — the global body that vets individual experts in authenticated meteorite material.

If your piece is ever questioned, we re-certify it. For as long as it exists.

Before you buy

Frequently asked.

Yes. Every Stardust piece contains a verified meteorite fragment, with a Certificate of Authenticity backed up by IMCA (International Meteorite Collectors Association) member #4748. Muonionalusta is a Swedish iron meteorite that fell approximately one million years ago, classified as IVA Iron. We've been personally hunting it since 2013.

Iron meteorites can oxidize if exposed to water over long periods. Each piece is treated with electro stabilization and a protective sealant. We recommend storing it in dry conditions when not worn. With basic care, your piece will last generations.

Every order ships in our premium Stardust branded box, ready to gift. If you'd like a personal handwritten note included, leave a message at checkout — we'll add it.

14-day returns, no questions asked. Send it back in its original packaging and we'll refund the full amount.
